The Outer Edge of the Venus Zone around Main-sequence Stars

چکیده

Abstract A key item of interest for planetary scientists and astronomers is the habitable zone: distance from a host star where terrestrial planet can maintain necessary temperatures in order to retain liquid water on its surface. However, when observing system’s zone, it possible that one may instead observe Venus-like planet. We define “Venus-like” as greenhouse-gas-dominated atmosphere occurring incoming solar radiation exceeds infrared emitted at top atmosphere, resulting runaway greenhouse. Our definition includes both incipient post-runaway greenhouse states. Both possibility world Venus could represent an end state evolution worlds require improved understanding planet, specifically distances these planets exist. Understanding this helps us “Venus zone”—the region which exist—and assess overlap with aforementioned “habitable zone.” In study, we use 1D radiative−convective climate model determine outer edge zone F0V, G2V, K5V, M3V M5V stellar spectral types. results show resides 3.01, 1.36, 0.68, 0.23, 0.1 au, respectively. Habitable zone lifetimes of exoplanets around main sequence stars.

The potential habitability of newly discovered exoplanets is initially assessed by determining whether their orbits fall within the circumstellar habitable zone of their star. However, the habitable zone (HZ) is not static in time or space, and its boundaries migrate outward at a rate proportional to the increase in luminosity of a star undergoing stellar evolution, possibly including or exclud...

Extrasolar Planets around Main Sequence Stars

The mass distribution of substellar companions exhibits a steep rise for masses below 5 MJ. Thus, the 14 companions having Msin i = 0.5 { 5 MJ are considered the best candidate planets around main sequence stars. The occurrence of such planets within 3 AU is 4%, but 2/3 of them orbit within just 0.3 AU. This \pile up" of planets near stars suggests that inward orbital migration occurred after f...

Incidence and survival of remnant disks around main-sequence stars

We present photometric ISO 60 and 170 um measurements, complemented by some IRAS data at 60 μm, of a sample of 84 nearby main-sequence stars of spectral class A, F, G and K in order to determine the incidence of dust disks around such main-sequence stars. Fifty stars were detected at 60 μm; 36 of these emit a flux expected from their photosphere while 14 emit significantly more. The excess emis...

Mid-infrared Spectra of Dust Debris around Main-sequence Stars

We report spectra obtained with the Spitzer Space Telescope in the λ = 14 – 35 μm range of 19 nearby main-sequence stars with infrared excesses. The six stars with strong dust emission show no recognizable spectral features, suggesting that the bulk of the emitting particles have diameters larger than 10 μm. If the observed dust results from collisional grinding of larger solids, we infer minim...

Submillimeter lines from circumstellar disks around pre-main sequence stars

Observations of submillimeter lines of CO, HCO, HCN and their isotopes from circumstellar disks around low mass pre-main sequence stars are presented. CO lines up to J=6→5, and HCO and HCN lines up to J=4→3, are detected from the disks around LkCa 15 and TW Hya. These lines originate from levels with higher excitation temperatures and critical densities than studied before. Combined with interf...
